SCHOOL CLOSURE INFORMATION

     

Gar-Pal Internet Television - The Garfield-Palouse High School Audio/Visual Class is experimenting with live internet broadcasting. This broadband broadcast will include the television broadcast that has been seen on Palouse and Garfield cable televisions, as well as occasional live broadcasts of events at the schools. Broadcast events can be recorded and can be viewed at at later time on your broadband internet connection. To view, click on the link at the top of this page.


Gar-Pal High School Knowledge Bowl Third in State - The Garfield-Palouse High School Knowledge Bowl team took Third Place in the B State Tournament in Spokane at West Valley High School on March 23, 2008. Congratulations to team members: Travis Mallet, Becky Nelson, Aaron Rager, Katie Redman, Steven Tronsen and Rachel Witthuhn.

Gar-Pal Engineering Places 2nd in Nationals - The Garfield-Palouse High School Engineering Design Team has earned Second Place in National Finals in the 2008 JETS National Engineering Design Challenge. The team also received an award for "The Most Innovative Design". The team presented their project at National Competition in Washington D.C. February 15, 2008. Members of the team visited with Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers Thursday, February 14. The Gar-Pal team designed a machine that can lift a driver with a disability into the cab of a combine. “I am proud of these bright students from Whitman County,” McMorris Rodgers said.  “They are a clear example of the creative and innovative young minds that are going to be the future leaders of Eastern Washington.”  Team members include: Colby Cocking, Sean Neal, Beau Fisher, Miles Pfaff, Spencer Gray, Aaron Rager, Anna Iverson, Katie Redman, Travis Mallett and Steven Tronsen. Middle School Art Exhibit and Music Concert - The Garfield-Palouse Middle School Art students will have a "Celebration of the Arts" display on the evening of May 7 in the Garfield School. This will coincide with the Middle School Music Concert evening. Come enjoy the work of the Middle School students.

 

Gar-Pal FCCLA Wins Gold - On to State - All of the Garfield-Palouse High School FCCLA Star Event Competitors earned Gold Awards and will be competing in State Competition. Members and their events are: Chapter Showcase: Kallie Baker, Megan Cooper, Rachell Dickson; Illustrated Talk: Kori Adair, Emily Boone, Annie Leendersten; Focus on Children: Ashley Gearhart, Kelly Rieber, Sierra Rockness; Community Service: Kristin Nelson, Sarah Willmore.

 

Gar-Pal Music 2nd at 2008 Lionel Hampton Festival - Students from Garfield-Palouse Schools competed in the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival during February 2008. The High School "B" Combo team of Chris Thurman, Alex Keeney, Ian Yoder and Heather McGehee took Second Place in their competition. Other contestants were Alex Keeney in Junior High Solo-Tenor Sax; Erin Reams in HS Solo-Alto Vocal; HS "B" Jazz Band in Jazz I, grades 7-12. Congratulations to all.

 

Gar-Pal High School Girls Basketball Team Wins State Tournament - The Garfield-Palouse High School Girls Basketball team won the State Championship in the 1B Tournament in Yakima at the SunDome on February 23 by defeating Colton 44-36. The girls defeated Lummi 42-31, St.John/Endicott 43-19 and Sunnyside Christian 57-53 on the way to the championship. Elisha Lopez was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Lopez and Bridget Bower were both named to the first all-tournament team. Congratulations Lady Vikings. Follow all the results at the WIAA Website - Girls 1B

 

Gar-Pal High School Boys Basketball Team 4th at State Tournament - The Garfield-Palouse High School Boys Basketball team won Saturday to take the 4th Place award at the 1B Tournament in Yakima at the SunDome by defeating Neah Bay 54-48. The boys defeated Klickitat 50-34, lost to Moses Lake Christian 51-48, and then defeated Lake Quinalt 62-51 as the tournament progressed. Scott Smith was named to the second all-tournament team. Gar-Pal Soils 1st in State - On To Nationals - On Wednesday, October 31, 22 teams from 13 different schools met for the State Soils Competition. In the end, the undefeated Garfield-Palouse team would come out on top and complete a perfect season. The five team members along with advisor Buddy Carter will head to Oklahoma in May 2008 to compete in the National Competition. The team consists of Todd Pinter, Miles Pfaff, Garret Pfaff, Elisha Lopez, and Danielle Lange. Gar-Pal has come close the last two years at state losing to Prosser by 4 points in 2005 and to Rosalia by 20 points last year. Congratulations on a great year.

 

 

Gar-Pal Boys Football 1st in State for Academics - The Garfield-Palouse High School Boy's Football Team participated in 1B state post-season play in November 2007. The Gar-Pal boys have been Awarded the State Academic Championship for having the highest overall GPA of all the teams in post-season play. The team traveled to Tacoma on Friday, November 30, 2007 to accept the award. Congratulations Gar-Pal.

 

Gar-Pal Girls Softball 1st in State for Academics - The Garfield-Palouse High School Girl's Softball Team participated in the State Softball Tournament in May 2007 in Yakima. The Gar-Pal girls were Awarded the State Academic Championship for having the highest overall GPA of all the teams in the tournament. They took 4th place in state on the field. Congratulations Gar-Pal.

Gar-Pal School Board Meetings -  The next regular Garfield-Palouse School Board meetings will be on  April 24, 2008 at the Palouse School Library and May 29, 2008 at the Garfield School Library.  more...

National FFA Convention in Indianapolis -  Ten Garfield-Palouse High School students attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis in October 2006.  Members attended competitions, concerts, and other activities. Sean Neal competed in extemporaneous speaking after placing First in Washington State Competition and earning the right to represent Washington in Indianapolis. Sean finished in the Top 16 in National FFA Competition. Congratulations Sean.

Gar-Pal Envirothon Team Attends International Competition - The Garfield-Palouse High School Envirothon team represented Washington State in the International Envirothon Competition held the week of July 24th, 2006 in Manitoba, Canada. Team members are: Kendali Arland, Sam Brink, Stephanie Walton, Danielle Lange and Katie Redman.
