:: The Next Step

The JETS/ NEDC challenge is made up of sections of challenges. The Gar-Pal JETS Team is recently completing the first challenge which is an "internet scavenger hunt" in which each of the students must read guided webpages and answer questions in detail for submission to the NEDC. After the teams collective answers have been submitted the team will begin a new project to start designing their product. Over the past few weeks each student has worked hard, not only at the school in our early morning meetings, but also at home to answer the scavenger hunt questions in detail and to ensure that only the students best work will be submitted. Though time consuming, each student has put forth their best effort in answering questions based on the reading each of them has done on the scavenger hunt. Collectively only one final copy of answers will be submitted, everyone is giving input and helping one another to complete the assignment which proves that that all of the chemistry needed for participation of all the group is there. The team is put together like a strong brick house, were instead of holding weight, each of the students holds knowlege which is invaluable to the team.  Because of the cooperation everyone puts forth and the input everyone gives and recieves the team does well to complete tasks set before them to reach a higher goal.

:: Introduction to Our Organization

 This year, Mr. Jim Stewart has employed a group of senior and junior students of Garfield-Palouse High School to assist in a nationwide competition called the JETS National Engineering and Design Challenge (JETS/NEDC). This competition is a team based activity in which a group of students is to work together to develop and design a new invention which can be used to help disabled persons in the work place. These students will receive guidance from Mr. Stewart, the high school mathematics teacher, and engineers from Schweitzer Engineering Labratories, inc. The Gar-Pal Engineering Team is a crack team of young men and women interested in engineering. The team is made up of Colby Cocking, Sean Neal, Miles Pfaff, Katie Redman, Anna Iverson, Spencer Grey, Bridget Bower, Steven Tronsen and Aaron Rager. This team is one of few who have joined the JETS/NEDC race, and is one who hopes to excell in the challenge overall.
