GarPal athletes made a good showings at the Coeur D' Alene Invitational track and field meet on Saturday, April 21. With over 15 schools of all sizes attending, predominately large, it was a challenging meet. The weather could not have been better and the meet went very smoothly!
On the men's side, senior Jeff Kent placed 8th (out of 26) in the 100m race (11.72) and 8th (out of 29) in the 200m with a PR of 23.55. Kent is currently ranked 3rd in the district for both the 100m and 200m as well as 8th for the state 2B in both, and 9th in the Pole Vault. Senior Derrick Bosch placed 11th (out of 28) in the shot put with a season PR, approaching his life-time PR (39'.5").
On the women's side, junior Cassie Thompson placed 9th (out of 21) in the long jump (13'9.75") and 15th ( out of 28) in the 200m, matching her PR (29.12). Senior Emma Akin advanced to finals in the triple jump, finishing 10th (29'09") and 18th (out of 30) in the 100m with a season PR (14.16). Junior Holly Leendertsen placed 12th in the 200m (out of 28), with a PR (28.76).
The VikCats head to Dayton on Wednesday for a regular season meet as they edge nearer to post-season events!
