GarPal Middle School had a good day at their first meet in Colfax, April 23. The weather was a tad warm but a huge improvement over last years rain, snow, sleet, hail, wind.....
On the boy's side, 8th grader Mitch Dymkoski PR'd (personal record) in the 100m by near 2 full seconds (14.83) and PR'd in the high jump (4). His long jump approached his PR and he did well at his first attempt at the Turbo Javelin.
On the girl's side, 8th grader Holly Brown placed 3rd in the 75 meter hurdles, with a PR (14.44), PR'd in the 100m by nearly a full second (15.84). 8th grader Delanie Watkins placed 2nd in the challenging 400m race with a more than 8 second PR (72.14). She also placed 4th in the 200m race with a PR (33.54). 8th grader Foster Marcus placed 2nd in the 200m with a PR (32.94), 6th in the high jump with a PR (3'8") and PR'd in the 100m (15.54). 7th grader Tuli O'Neill also PRd in all of her events--100m by a full second (16.44), high jump (3'8"), and Turbo Javelin by nearly 15 feet (49'8")! Both 6th graders, in their first year on the track,did very well! Payson Griner place 3rd in the high jump (4'), 6th in both the 200m (34.24) and the 75m hurdles (15.34) and 7th in the 100m (15.24). Emily Bagott placed 7th in the 200m (39.04) and did well in the 100m (17.44), long jump (7'3") and the shot put (9'8.5") .
Next Monday the Raiders host the track meet in Colfax. Field events begin at 4:00 and running events begin at 4:30. Any volunteers would be greatly appreciated.
